Forward The Repeat Slip To The Dispensary
Hand it in at the surgery, post it to us, or use the village box system which operates on Monday and Thursday in the following villages: Hauxton, Thriplow, Foxton, Barrington, Haslingfield, Harston, Newton.
If you would like your medication delivered to any of these boxes, please ask at the Dispensary for a request form to complete. (If you pay for your prescriptions please send the correct money with the request.)
Please note we do NOT accept prescription requests over the telephone for safety reasons.
Our Dispensary
Dispensary Opening Times: Monday to Friday: 9:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5:45pm. Saturday 8:45am to 10:45am for medication collection only.
Dispensary patients can obtain their medicines directly from the surgery. We follow good prescribing practice and usually prescribe medication on a monthly basis. If you are entitled to free prescriptions please show appropriate evidence to our dispensary staff. If you pay for prescriptions and need regular medication it is most cost effective to purchase a 'pre-payment certificate' (PPC). People who have to pay for more than 3 prescription items in 3 months, or 12 items in 12 months, could save money by buying a PPC.

28 Day Prescribing
In line with national prescribing guidelines and local Clinical Commissioning Group recommendations, we are now prescribing for a maximum of 28 days at a time (exceptions apply e.g. holidays). This has been proven to reduce wastage of medicines (£100 million annually) by 15% where this has already been implemented in other parts of the country. The majority of prescriptions have already been for 28 days for some years. As a Practice we are committed to following these recommendations and hope that you will understand the reasoning behind this policy.
For those on regular medication there are 13x28 day periods in a year, making it cheaper to purchase a pre-payment certificate than pay per item each month. A prepayment certificate covers any other medications you might need and we would encourage patients to use this wherever possible (unless entitled to maternity or other medical exemption).
